9 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 FINMECCANICA IN THE ARCTIC SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT Finmeccanica is a major world player for Marine and Coastal Systems and Sensors, is strongly involved in Earth Observation and Sensing Technologies and has been working in the Environment Monitoring area since the mid 1980s. In the Arctic we are already present with Earth Observation solutions (COSMO-SkyMed Receiving Station for the Finnish Meteorological Institute for maritime safety and transportation activities and for monitoring ice formation and movement in Norway), and Search & Rescue operations (SAR helicopters, AW101 helicopters to meet the Norwegian All Weather SAR Helicopter (NAWSARH) requirement and AW139s equipped for Search and Rescue operations for the Swedish Maritime Administration) In particular, Finmeccanica aims to play a leading role in supporting the Arctic Sustainable Development, through solutions to: Support Arctic Route navigability Environment monitoring Increase Security/Safety Improve Indigenous people welfare Through its distinctive competences, technologies and extensive experience in high technology sectors, Finmeccanica is able to offer a comprehensive, structured and scalable solution to fit main Arctic needs: Improved Maritime Situation Awareness, Traffic Monitoring and Safety Geo-information needs on the sea status (sea ice melting, environmental monitoring, …) Real (and near real) time information availability Through its distinctive competences, technologies and extensive experience in high technology sectors, Finmeccanica is able to offer a comprehensive, structured and scalable solution to fit main Arctic needs: Improved Maritime Situation Awareness, Traffic Monitoring and Safety Geo-information needs on the sea status (sea ice melting, environmental monitoring, …) Real (and near real) time information availability

12 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 Finmeccanica has developed "IMSA" (Integrated Maritime Surveillance and Assistance System), a system able to provide the integration of all the available technologies to ensure safety and environmental protection against all types of threats at sea. IMSA can de deployed in the Arctic through: VTMS (Vessel Traffic Management Systems) providing, through the integration of different sensors and mobile units, global capacity in terms of environmental protection, navigation, traffic control, operations support, search and rescue and prevention of illegal activities A command and control center, configured according to operational needs, able to integrate existing infrastructure and networks by leveraging scalable and secure architectures and models. Earth Observation data and services (Cosmo Sky-Med satellite constellation) which use the X-band SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar), based on AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) systems for monitoring ice melting, critical infrastructure (i.e. pipelines and oil platforms) and for addressing oil spill and other threats; Satellite communications; Communication networks (HF / VHF / UHF) to connect command and control rooms with ships and vessels; Fixed and rotary -wing aircraft in SAR (search and rescue) configuration Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), both rotary and fixed wing, to control and monitor large areas and capable of carrying different types of surveillance radar and electro-optical sensors. Arctic Transportation Tourism High Seas Fishing FINMECCANICA COMPREHENSIVE OFFER: IMPROVE ARCTIC ROUTE NAVIGABILITY
13
13 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 Solutions for environmental monitoring, based on integrated operating systems that enable accurate monitoring of territories and natural resources through a combination of: satellite technology for continuous monitoring of atmospheric meteorological, hydrological dynamics and accidental spillage of pollutants manned and unmanned vehicles (UAV, UGV and UUV) sensors (radar and electro-optical) multispectral technologies (hyperspectral infrared,...) and software applications able to perform reconnaissance and intervention in hostile conditions and remote environment (e.g. contaminated areas) Environment/Ecosystem protection Extraction of Natural Resources Climate Change Instability FINMECCANICA COMPREHENSIVE OFFER: ENVIRONMENT MONITORING
14
14 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 Systems for control and management of air and sea traffic (air traffic control and Vessel Traffic Management), integrated systems for border protection (Homeland Security), Critical Infrastructure protection and Port Protection systems Systems for improving situation awareness, surveillance and response capability and increased operational presence on site, through manned and unmanned vehicles (UAV and UGV), radar and electro-optical devices, avionics equipment and communications systems Solutions are managed through C4ISTAR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) systems Security/Safety FINMECCANICA COMPREHENSIVE OFFER: IMPROVE SECURITY/SAFETY
15
15 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 Telecommunications systems to allow communication in the Arctic Tactical systems and platforms for air intervention in emergency scenarios, with aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) appropriately equipped for search & rescue operations and support missions and unmanned systems for reconnaissance and analysis Operational command and control room, for the management of emergency situations in areas often difficult to reach, enabling thus the analysis of the context, performing risk assessment, simulation of scenarios of intervention and coordinating emergency operations in order to minimize impacts on people, lands and infrastructures Solutions to facilitate access to education and medical techniques using communication services for remote support (e-learning, e-medicine) Connectivity solutions to improve infrastructure management, efficiency and safety Social Networking, Safety and Health FINMECCANICA COMPREHENSIVE OFFER: SUPPORT INDIGENOUS PEOPLE WELFARE
16
16 FINMECCANICA BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - DECEMBER 2014 Monitoring and Information superiority: increase of commercial trade and navigation at high latitudes, and consequent new threats and challenges, request an appropriate level of surveillance to ensure the delivery of timely and complex information to decision makers and faster level of intervention in case of emergency. Arctic Sustainable Development: Climate and environmental changes that are occurring in the Arctic are leading to a fast development of the area, which can enhance indigenous people condition: access to communication networks and to education and medical techniques, infrastructures and safety are main drivers for indigenous people welfare. FINMECCANICA POTENTIAL ROLE IN THE ARCTIC Finmeccanica has identified key enablers and technologies and can provide an integrated effective and sustainable collaborative approach; such key enablers allow to continuously improve industry competitiveness through integration, innovation and support to high-skilled workforce Finmeccanica is continuously investing in dual-use and multipurpose capabilities, and is able to act as a Global High-Tech Industrial Partner for the Arctic joint sustainable development, also leveraging on potential collaboration with local industries MAIN NEEDS
