A passing paper (2) must be the appropriate genre, be in legible English, have a clearly-stated topic sentence, stay on topic, and be written clearly enough for the reader to understand the composition.

TO SCORE A 3 OR 4, THE COMPOSITION MUST WHEN MY CHILD WRITES, HE/SHE MUST have better written expression (word choice, transitions, organization, details, descriptive language, etc), have better mastery of grammar and mechanics (spelling, punctuation, and capitalization), and have a conclusion that expresses the value of the topic. write in complete sentences, capitalize the first letter of each sentence, end each sentence with a period, and spell consistently.
