(CP) is general term that refers to a group of non- progressive disorders of movement and posture resulting from injuring of malformation of the developing central nervous system. The resulting disability can range from very mild or very severe. In some children CP may be associated with various combination of intellectual disability, seizures, poor growth, scoliosis, and visual and hearing deficits.

Variations in muscle tone — either too stiff or too floppy Stiff muscles and exaggerated reflexes (spasticity) Stiff muscles with normal reflexes (rigidity) Lack of muscle coordination (ataxia) Tremors or involuntary movements Slow, writhing movements (athetosis) Delays in reaching motor skills milestones, such as pushing up on arms, sitting up alone or crawling Favoring one side of the body, such as reaching with only one hand or dragging a leg while crawling Difficulty walking, such as walking on toes, a crouched gait, a scissors-like gait with knees crossing or a wide gait Excessive drooling or difficulty with swallowing Difficulty with sucking or eating Delays in speech development or difficulty speaking Difficulty with precise motions, such as picking up a crayon or spoon

Electrical stimulation Patterning technique Craniosacral therapy or cranial osteopathy Oxygen therapy or hyperbaric oxygen therapy Special diets and vitamins. Surgery for drooling

Eat nutritious foods. Do not smoke. Avoid exposure to harmful substances. See your doctor regularly Take measures to prevent accidents Make sure you are familiar with the signs of jaundice in newborns. Know how to prevent lead poisoning. Keep your child away from people who have serious contagious illnesses, such as meningitis.
