Right Side Pulmonary Pump Pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs to get oxygen Left Side Systemic Pump Pumps oxygenated blood to the whole body

A white piece of paper A pencil & a pen A black colored pencil or marker Colored pencils that are red, blue and brown Markers (or highlighters) that are red and blue

Draw the heart’s outline

Continue the heart’s outline & label parts Left Side (Systemic Pump) Right Side (Pulmonary Pump) Apex (tip) septum (wall between left and right sides)

RIGHT SIDE—add the vena cavas Superior (above) vena cava Inferior (below) vena cava

RIGHT SIDE—add the pulmonary (lung) arteries Pulmonary trunk Right pulmonary arteries (to right lung) Left pulmonary arteries (to left lung)

RIGHT SIDE—add the valves & chambers Pulmonary (lung) valve Tricuspid (3 pointed) valve RA RV Right atrium (entrance hall) Right ventricle (belly)

WHOLE HEART—color the myocardium (heart muscle)

RIGHT SIDE—color the valves (blue for deoxygenated blood)

RIGHT SIDE—add arrows for blood flow (blue for deoxygenated blood) returning from head and arms (upper body) returning from legs and abdomen (lower body) to right lung to get O 2 to left lung to get O 2

RIGHT SIDE— OPTIONAL color in blue for deoxygenated blood

LEFT SIDE—add the valves & chambers Aortic valve Left atrium (receiving hall) Bicuspid /mitral valve Left ventricle (belly) LA LV

LEFT SIDE—add the aorta Ascending (rising) aorta Descending (lowering) aorta

LEFT SIDE—color the valves (pink or red for oxygenated blood)
