On purpose or by accident? PURPOSE- In 1890, 100 birds were released into Central Park in New York City by fans of William Shakespeare, who had mentioned the bird in his writings.

Mechanical- prescribed fire, manual removal, explosives Biological- natural enemies such as insects or pathogens that attack the invasive species Chemical- manipulation of water or soil chemistry to increase the growth of native species Cultural- educating people, encouraging actions that minimize the spread of invasive species

1. NEVER release exotic plants or animals into the wild. 2. Urge your family and friends to plant only native species in yards or gardens. 3. DON’T move firewood! 4. “If you are a boater, inspect and remove aquatic plants, animals, and mud from your boat, motor, and trailer. 5. Educate your family and friends.
