Understanding the Problem Note the pattern of the numbers Look at the pattern of the number of element in the 1st , 2nd , 3rd … groups Devising a plan The n –th term in the pattern, can be determined The number of elements in the n –th group can be determined The key of this problem is in how we get the first term in the n –th group

4 Implementing the plan The n’ –th term in that sequence is Un’= 2n’ – 1
