3 Major contents of the study: Identifying key Baltic Sea shipping trends and driving forces of change Trends in port development in the Baltic Sea Maritime traffic in the BSR - forecast Trends in ship design (size, regulations, technology) according to the clean shipping requirements

4 Identifying key Baltic Sea shipping trends and driving forces of change. – Worldwide tendencies and increase in container/passenger shipping – Main BSR operators and services – Fleet and orderbook – Transshipment level in the BSR – Container throughput in the BSR ports – Short sea operations

5 Trends in port development in the Baltic Sea – Strategies and reports review, data from ports – Analysis of transport flows/directions – Ports vs hubs – Motorways of the Sea concept – Major investments, clean shipping regulations – LNG Terminals development – Issues of port waste management/BWM

6 Port of Szczecin –Świnoujście LNG Terminal under construction

7 Trends in ship design (size, regulations, technology) according to the clean shipping requirements – Large ships are already in operation – Growth of ships size, physical limits – LNG as alternative fuel – Port limitations – Ballast water and waste/sewage management systems- analysis

8 Final steps: Establishishment of Baltic Sea shipping scenario Scenario assesement in terms of the Clean Baltic Sea Shipping development
