Keith Haring Inspirations
2
Keith Haring: Keith Haring was born in Pennsylvania, but moved to New York City in 1978 to enroll in the School of Visual Arts. In New York City, Haring found a thriving alternative art community as well as musicians, performance artists and graffiti writers. In 1980, he noticed the unused advertising panels covered with black paper in a subway station.

Keith Haring: He began to create drawings in white chalk upon these blank paper panels throughout the subway system. They were quick, impulsive, contour, thick-lined drawings that utilized startling color combinations. Haring was heavily influenced by music and dance, and at all hours of the day and night, his studio resonated with the sounds of an eclectic variety of music.

Keith Haring: The music provided Haring with an infinite amount of inspiration. Haring would look at dance and see things, and he would freeze moments in his mind, and go into the studio and paint them. Haring sought to create electricity and movement in his drawings. The viewer could feel the movement and rhythm in his work.
