5 5 Bringing a System Into Your Logistics MERLIN Project objectives – To investigate and demonstrate the viability of an integrated management system to achieve a more sustainable and optimised energy usage in European Mainline Railway systems – Where MERLIN‘s results are implemented it expected an important reduction of the energy consumption by 10% Project benefits – MERLIN will contribute to the EU‘s aim of a more sustainable rail system and a reduction in CO 2 via a more efficient use of energy resources Project outputs – Proposals for Technical Recommendations (UIC/UNIFE TecRec) – Future Business models & recommendations (smart energy management, cost saving) – Optimised solutions for current and future business models – Numerical models and simulations to demonstrate the architecture developed for the above TecRec
