Afghanistan is the 9th ranked country for underweight children under 5 years old

That means about a third of the population under 5 years old is underweight

Death among children is not uncommon in Afghanistan and the life expectancy is 44

Thousands of children have been abandoned and sent to labor orphanages

Even though there are working laws that forbid children to be forced to work, nearly ¼ of them work

Some children are forced to work at hazardous jobs

Winter is rough for the children who don’t have enough clothes to stay warm

The Taliban used to prevent girls from going to school until their downfall in 2001

8 million children go to school in Afghanistan today

But sometimes children are forced to quit school to work

There are thousands of homeless children on the streets of Afghanistan

Girls like to play with dolls or play volleyball in their free time
14
Children in Afghanistan love to play soccer when they can
15
A lot of children do not know when their next meal will be

America is trying to stop child labor in Afghanistan and restore their hope
