Was this development the result of an historical event? ◦Pottery has discovered for centuries and it have been created from clay and mud ◦As pottery progressed it happened as the makers escalated from the basic clay figurines of animals and human ◦Pottery did not come from any historical event, yet the expanding knowledge of mankind

Did a significant historical event take place as a result of this development? ◦Pottery had produced new inventions that have helped the people such as keeping food, holding water, and storing materials ◦The development was necessary, it led for the development of pots and pans (similar shape) and for the longevity of the aspects of life (water, food etc.) ◦The art of Pottery also helped to discover great artist in Asia, Greece, and Egypt along with many other places

5. Did this development go through a period of innovation after its introduction? If so, what were those innovations? ◦Pottery has gone through changes as it has traveled trough different areas of the world ◦Pottery in Greece has a different style than the pottery of Asia ◦The art of pottery has transformed from the bare minimum of clay figures to detailed carvings into the sides of vases that explain the history of the region ◦The process of which pottery is finished has changed: ◦Originally kilns were dug in the ground, but over time it produced into the more efficient kilns ◦Clay products were in mass production for items such as: ◦Brick – Roofing tile – Clay floors – Wall tiles – Ceramics

Economy ◦Production of industrial products that advanced the ways of life: bricks ◦Allowed for there to be storage of grains, flour, etc. so the supply and demand shifted during the peak of pottery ◦Negative reason for pottery is that it can break easily when traveling ◦Pottery can be the home of different animals and insects ◦Ancient pottery sells for large sums of money ◦Some pottery is sold for activity such as “Paint-It-Yourself” in modern day

9. Environment Clay is found in soil and can take on many forms Clay is not a hazardous material, yet the chemicals used for the glaze and the fumes that are released when firing can be harmful The only downside to pottery is that it takes time to recuperate the material being it is nature- made
