What will be the same? What will be different? Curriculum Redesign
4
> Alberta Education decides what students learn. > There will be subjects and grade levels. > The basics remain. > Teachers will continue to teach students. > Teachers will continue to plan appropriate lessons for their students. > There will continue to be some form of provincial assessment. What will be the same?
5
What will be different? > A broader range of Albertans will contribute to curriculum development. > Greater focus on literacy and numeracy will help students to better succeed in school and life. > More focus on competencies will mean that students better know how to apply their knowledge. > Students will have more time and flexibility to go deeper into topics that interest them.
6
What will be different? > Teachers will have more flexibility to prepare activities that meet the learning needs of all students. > Provincial assessments in K-9 will provide more information for teachers and parents to better understand where students are at earlier in the school year. > Students and parents will have a better idea of where students are at in their learning.
