Mining (Write our central idea)

what is mining?  Mining is when you dig valuable materials from a naturally available source. Common materials that are dug are:  coal, diamonds, gold, and silver.

Bad effects of mining Rainforests are the biggest source of oxygen, wood and medicines on this earth. Gold is found mostly after floods. For mining gold, the method involves blasting at the banks of the river. This has caused irreversible damage to trees, birds and animals. They use cyanide to separate gold from sediment and rock. Cyanide is a poisonous substance which enters the water and the fish. Those who eat fish are at greater risk of ingesting such toxins. Creates a lot of sickness to people.

The good effects of mining  There are a lot of good things about mining. It creates jobs. Provides the cheapest form of energy, which is coal. Did you know, half of the energy that is used every day comes from coal. Mining also provides wealth for the country.

Different types of mining  Surface mining  Underground mining

Surface mining  Surface mining is a method of mining used to get minerals and metals which are near the surface of the Earth. There are two types of surface mining: open pit mining, strip mining.strip mining  With open pit mining cuts through the ore. Once the minerals and waste have been removed from the ground. The level moves down and the work starts again. This type of surface mining, is typically employed to get metals like copper, gold, iron, and aluminum etc.

Underground mining  Underground mining is used to get valuable minerals in the ground by digging into the ground. This is in contrast with techniques like open pit mining. When people think of mining, they often think about underground mines. Different products can be mined underground, some of the deepest mines in the world are used to get gold.  Different types of ore are so buried that surface mining is not an option. It is still very important that you be safe doing underground mining. Especially with soft ores. it is important to avoid substances above the mine, collapses in the mine, explosions, and other health and safety risks.

Surface mining and underground mining

conclusion  In conclusion mining has a positive and a negative effect on the environment. Most people think that mining is more good than bad but in my opinion I think its more bad than good. So mining has both positive and negative effect on the environment.

Bibliography  Google images.  Book-mining and its effects.  Google-the effect of mining on the environment.  Had a debate with my sister.  Google-different types of mining.  Google-difference between surface and underground mining.
