Kinesiology Taping is a therapeutic taping technique, not only offering your patient or athlete the support they are looking for, but rehabiliting the affected area as well. This technique uses a highly specific designed tape. Used for all clinical conditions: allow full range of motion (ROM). not negatively affect the bio mechanics hypoallergenic and safe to use from the pediatric to geriatric populations "light to the feel” water resistant material ↑ circulation of blood and lymph relieve pain
4
Traditional sport tape: rolls white Kinesiology tape: rolls and precut applications wider variety of colors
5
Traditional athletic tape: thick non-elastic keeps water Kinesiology tape: thin stretchy properties almost identical to human skin
6
Sport tape: very strong additional layer between tape and skin Kinesiology tape: more gentle hypoallergenic
7
KT: almost never wrapped completely around any part of the body. applying directly over an injured area or around its perimeter the muscles should be held in a stretched position Athletic tape : wrapped tightly around an injured joint or muscle. few layers possible damage to an injured area if used too long
8
SPORT TAPE: support make stable an injured joint or muscle group in cases of severe injury when any movement could result in additional damage.
9
KT HAS GOT A VARIETY OF FUNCTIONS: 1. Supports the joints and muscles without reducing range of motion. 2. Corrects improper muscle function by improving neurosensory feedback (activity or functions of the nervous system) 3. Relieves pain in both acute and chronic phase of injury 4. Reduces swelling and inflammation by improving lymphatic drainage. 5. Improves blood flow 6. Prevents overuse and overcontraction of working muscles. 7. Stabilizes muscle during activity after an injury. 8. Increases muscle tense in neurological problems 9. Delay fatigue and improve endurance.
10
Neurosensory - to relieve pain Microcirculatory - to enhance lymphatic drainage and relieve swelling and bruising Structural - to provide support to injured areas and encourage proper postural and movement patterns
11
The general rule for each technique is as follows: Neurosensory - stretch the muscle, not the tape Structural - stretch the tape, not the muscle Microcirculatory - stretch the muscle and the tape
12
DIRECTIONS Most muscles are attached at each end to one or more of the bones of the skeleton (muscle attachment) The attachment nearer to the center of the body, or which moves least when the muscle contracts, is usually called the origin. The attachment that is farther away from the center of the body, or which moves more, is called the insertion. If you want to stimulate: Origin insertion If you want to relax: Origin insertion
13
1.Similarity of lymphatic system to blood circulatory 2.Functions 3. Physiology of swelling
16
Documented benefits of kinesiotaping: improved ability to sit independently improved ability to reach for a toy improved ability to initiate movements independently greater stability in trunk and leg muscles increased range of motion, target accuracy and fluency of motion better posture improved balance

The physical changes associated with pregnancy put strain on many different parts of the body. The accompanying swelling, aches and pains can make the latter stages of pregnancy extremely uncomfortable. There are few solutions to deal with things like back pain, diaphragm painand more. 2 1 3
19
The further in front the abdomen protrudes, the more work the back muscles must do to stabilize and support the entire area. No wonder lower back pain is a common pregnancy complaint! 1 2
20
By the third trimester of pregnancy, little baby often can cause a pressure on diaphragm and is responsible for the shortness of breath, pain and referred pain.
