The following rules highlight some of the policies included in the "Parent Student Agreement" each student and natural parent have signed as part of the student’s application.
3
School attendance is required. Students are expected to be on time for school every day. If your student is sick or tardy, please call the SPP office at 651-288-4606 by 10am to report their absence or tardy and provide the reason. If the student is not sick but they don’t go to school, feel free to call and let the front desk know they should be marked as unexcused. Students will have to serve detention and perhaps attend Saturday School if they are late to class a lot. You will be notified by an emailed letter if your student need to attend Saturday School.
4
Students must maintain at least a "C" level grade in every class, with no failing grades (D’s or F’s). Failing grades will result in academic probation, and possible termination of program. In this case, SPP sends a letter to the host family and foreign partner who will notify the natural parents. Students must enroll in an English, Math, American History or Government, and a social or natural science course during the length of their program.
5
PowerSchool is our online grading and attendance website. The link to PowerSchool is accessible at the bottom of www.stpaulprep.orgwww.stpaulprep.org We ask host families to become familiar with PowerSchool to help monitor student grades and attendance. You will receive a letter containing an assigned username and password to access your PowerSchool account. Please change your password and record it in a safe place. If you do forget it, please contact the host family dept at SPP.

Students are not allowed to drink alcohol, use drugs, or associate with others who are involved with alcohol or drugs in any way. Students who do so will be sent home. Students are not allowed to smoke while participating in the St. Paul Preparatory School program. Students who are caught smoking may be subject to behavioral consequences from the school. Sexual activity and behavior are not allowed during the program stay.
7
Students are not allowed to drive motorized vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, airplanes, farm equipment, boats or other watercraft, go- carts, all-terrain vehicles, or motorized mini- bikes. Students are not allowed to procure a drivers license while on the St. Paul Preparatory School program.
8
Students must follow their host parents' rules regarding night-time activities and curfews. Students should not make life-changing decisions while on program (changing religion, tattoos, piercings, marriage, etc.) Students who break any U.S. law may be sent home.
9
Students must receive written and signed permission from the SPP office, prior to participating in any overnight travel: ◦ outside of the host family’s community ◦ without the host family ◦ and any international travel during the program ◦ if students travel outside of the US during the program, they must have their I-20 signed in order to return to the US.
10
Students are expected to return to their home country at the end of the program. Students who return home on a date other than the program end date cannot be guaranteed travel emergency support from the school. SPP will NOT arrange special travel itineraries for students’ personal travel during or after the program.
11
Every month, your Coordinator will contact you and your student asking questions about the progress of your hosting experience. Most of these monthly contacts will take place over the phone or via email. However, your Coordinator may conduct the monthly contact meeting in your home or at school.
12
In case your student does break a program rule, please contact to the student’s Coordinator, and/or the St. Paul Preparatory School Host Family Office. We cannot help if we are not aware of the problem!
