Find out what kind of funding fits your career level and proposal idea: Am I eligible to write a Career Development Award (K series)? Can I submit a Research Grant proposal (R awards)? Is there an RFA available? Basic Questions: 2. Find out which funding is available at this time and the DEADLINES: Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to flush out the experimental design, to get the supporting information about key personnel, for peer review, and potential time needed for material from mentors. Factor in time for figuring out budget details with administrative help. Factor in time for appropriate signatures on forms prior to submission (how does this work now that submission is electronic??)
