3 IBO MISSION  The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people, who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.  To this end, the IBO works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.  These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners, who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

11 Page 11 What is the Learner Profile? It’s the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21 st century. The attributes of the learner profile express the values inherent to the IB continuum of international education: these are values that should infuse all elements of the three programmes and, therefore, the culture and ethos of all IB World Schools. IB programmes promote the education of the whole person, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth through all domains of knowledge. 12 What does the Diploma Programme curriculum contain? There are three core requirements The extended essay:  4,000 words  Offers the opportunity to investigate a research question of individual interest  Familiarises students with the independent research and writing skills expected at university

13 Creativity, action and service (CAS):  Encourages students to be involved in artistic pursuits, sports and community service  Education outside the classroom  Development of the learner profile

26 The IB Program and the Florida Bright Futures Program IB DIPLOMA RECIPIENTS AUTOMATICALLY RECEIVE FLORIDA BRIGHT FUTURES SCHOLARSHIPS. Students who complete the IB curriculum are eligible for Florida Bright Futures Scholarships, with minimum SAT/ACT scores.

27 IB Diploma students can expect the maximum of amount of college transfer credits available. (Most students start college as sophomores.) IB Diploma students have a higher percentage rate of college acceptances than regular applicants. IB graduates are documented to have higher college GPA’s than other students.
