objectives The primary objective within the framework of its competence is to formulate, adopt, direct and coordinate general policies of economic and social development of the country, related to competitiveness, integration and development of the productive sectors of industry, small businesses, small and medium foreign trade of goods, services and technology, the promotion of foreign investment, domestic trade and tourism, and implement policies, general plans, programs and projects of foreign trade.

mission The mission of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism is to support business activity, production of goods, services and technology and tourism management in the regions of the country, in order to improve their competitiveness, sustainability and encourage the generation of higher added value, which will consolidate its presence in the local market and in international markets, adequate guarding competition in the local market, to the benefit of consumers and tourists, helping to improve Colombia's international position in the world and the quality of life of Colombians.

history The history of the trade sector, industry and tourism dates back to 1991 with the creation of the Ministry of Foreign Trade with the 1st law 7 of the same year, which seek royal rules give the Colombian foreign trade as freely as possible in terms conditions permit the economy, and whose primary objective was to promote the internationalization of the Colombian economy to achieve a steady and increasing pace of development, and allowed imports and exports of goods, technology and services made within the principle of freedom international trade as cyclical conditions permit the economy.

structure The structure of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism is headed by the Minister, and who is a member of: Foreign Trade Council, Microenterprise Council and the High Council of Small and Medium Enterprises.

achievements The Plan of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, was defined a long-term vision, which required a special effort to harmonize the guidelines of the National Development Plans of the last year, 2019 and 2032 Vision Country, sectoral policies (Strategic Export Plan, Tourism sector Plan and Administrative Development Plan), the Framework Medium Term Expenditure (MTEF) and sectoral indicators included in the SIGOB. Demonstrating and coordination between the different subsectors within the Ministry.
