Mission PLT uses the forest as a "window" on the world to increase students' understanding of our environment; stimulate students' critical and creative thinking; develop students' ability to make informed decisions on environmental issues; and instill in students the commitment to take responsible action on behalf of the environment. Goals To develop students' awareness, appreciation, skills, and commitment to address environmental issues. To provide a framework for students to apply scientific processes and higher order thinking skills to resolve environmental problems. To help students acquire an appreciation and tolerance of diverse viewpoints on environmental issues and develop attitudes and actions based on analysis and evaluation of the available information. To encourage creativity, originality, and flexibility to resolve environmental problems and issues. In 2005, the Project WET Foundation formally announced its commitment to helping achieve the goals of the Decade of Water for Life, Decade of Education for Sustainable Development and the Millennium Development Goals as identified by the United Nations. Mission Project WILD's mission is to provide wildlife-based conservation and environmental education that fosters responsible actions toward wildlife and related natural resources. Goal The goal of Project WILD is to assist learners of all ages in developing awareness, knowledge, skills, and commitment that result in informed decisions, responsible behavior, and constructive actions concerning wildlife and the environment upon which all life depends.
