Edgar Degas was born in Paris, France. His father was a banker. His father enjoyed art and music more than running a bank- so he encouraged Degas’ talent.

One of Edgar Degas’s all-time favorite subjects was the ballet. He loved to show ballerinas rehearsing backstage.
