7 Ways to Improve Memory Visual Imagery Method of Loci Mental Pictures
Form vivid interaction between specific locations and items to be remembered. Mental Pictures Images Link Method Ancient Greeks used to remember long speeches. Familiar with home. Start in front door and that is for point 1, move to dining room which is point 2, etc. Then when away from house can mentally work your way through the house that you’re so familiar with and in the process remember the info you need to remember! Link Method – three things on list (bread, juice, carrots) may visualize himself eating a carrot sandwhich with oj.

Learn series of words (pegs) on which memories can be “hung”. One is a bun Two is a shoe Three is a tree Four is a door Five is a hive Six is sticks Seven is heaven Eight is a gate Nine is vine Ten is a hen Lets say you need to remember a grocery list. Bread is first thing…maybe visualize loaf of bread on bag of girls head. Milk, see someone drinking milk out of a shoe. Bananas are next, see bananas in tree, etc. Pegwords are retrieval cues for groceries.
