3
3 | Microsoft Confidential Exchange UM = Exchange Unified Messaging − Voice mail in e-mail Inbox, access to both over the phone − One storage infrastructure (Exchange) − One transport infrastructure (Exchange) − One identity infrastructure (Active Directory) − One configuration infrastructure (based on PowerShell) First included with Exchange 2007 Extended in Exchange 2010 Plans for Online UM announced at Office 365 launch
5
5 | Microsoft Confidential Voicemail in the Inbox (Message creation from the phone) − Voice messages and missed calls appear in e-mail clients − Outlook 2007 and 2010 (special voicemail rendering) − Outlook Web App (special voicemail rendering) − Exchange ActiveSync clients (many smartphone platforms, incl. WP7) − Voice Mail Preview (7 language packs) − Text inserted into voice message automatically from audio recording Outlook Voice Access (Message retrieval from the phone) − Voicemail, E-mail, Calendar, Contacts, Directory, Options − Speech-enabled interface (26 language packs) − Messages: Read (play), reply(-all), forward, call sender, delete etc. − Meetings: Read, accept, decline, send “I’ll be X minutes late”, etc. − Directory, Contacts: Call, send message, play details, etc. − Great for hands-free triage (e.g. while walking or driving)

8 | Microsoft Confidential Speech-enabled access to Exchange from any phone, anywhere

UM does not provide “dial tone” Customers who run UM today must use one or more of: − Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007/R2 − Microsoft Lync™ Server 2010 − PBX + VoIP gateway that is interoperable with UM − IP PBX that is interoperable with UM Current list at “Telephony Advisor for Exchange 2010” − http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee364753.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee364753.aspx − UM Systems Integrators have demonstrated other integrations

11 | Microsoft Confidential Same admin tools and techniques as the rest of Exchange Based around PowerShell − Everything is scriptable − RBAC: 3 UM admin roles “out of the box”, can make more Policy framework for UM user capabilities Management pack for Microsoft System Center Reporting built into Exchange Control Panel
12
12 | Microsoft Confidential UM works with many types of telephony/communications server
13
13 | Microsoft Confidential For traditional PBXs, must use a gateway to connect to UM
14
14 | Microsoft Confidential For IP-PBXs, don’t need VoIP gateway − But IP-PBX must meet UM’s SIP interoperability requirements
15
15 | Microsoft Confidential For OCS or Lync, don’t need VoIP gateway for UM − But OCS/Lync needs Gateway for telephone network access
16
16 | Microsoft Confidential UM can be separated from telephony/communications servers
18
18 | Microsoft Confidential Voice-over-IP to/from UM Online runs over the public IP network

Contoso Corporation Fabrikam, Inc. Exchange Online (Office 365) SIP/TLS/SRTP
21
21 | Microsoft Confidential Correct type of Exchange user licenses (provided during Beta) One or more supported telephony systems − Traditional PBX + Gateway (see Telephony Advisor) − IP-PBX − Microsoft Lync Server 2010 VoIP-aware Network Border Server − Supported Session Border Controller (for PBX, IP-PBX) − Lync Server 2010 Edge Role
22
22 | Microsoft Confidential VoIP-aware network border systems − Protection against intrusion and denial of service attacks Makes/models tested to date with UM Online − AudioCodes (Mediant 1000 MSBG, 6.00AL.014) − Ingate (SIParator19, 4.8.4) − NET (VX1800, 4.7.2v47) AudioCodes and NET products available standalone and also as combination media gateway/SBC devices In principle, all SBCs tested should work with UM- compatible gateways and IP-PBXs. In practice, we have not tested all possible combinations. Cisco (CUBE) product does not support some UM call flows (e.g. message waiting indicator).

In Office 365 (Exchange Online): introduce during Beta Plan to make available in all regions in 2011 − North America first, then Europe, then Asia and Latin America − But will not be offered for users with certain country-of- origin values (list subject to review): − EC, GT, IN, KR, LK, NG, PH, QA, TH, UY High availability (site- and datacenter-level failover) configured Same UM feature set as on-prem, except for speech access to directory (DTMF only in initial release) 24
