1 PYRAMIDS AND TOMBS OF ANCIENT EGYPT By: Kolten Mercer, Tyson Beauperthuy and Hunter Rees.

2 PYRAMIDS  Pyramids are buildings that were built in Ancient Egypt.  Most of the pyramids in Egypt were built as tombs in ancient Egypt.  In Egypt more than 130 pyramids have been found there.  Even though there are many pyramids found in Egypt the pyramid of Giza was and still is the tallest of them all.  Almost all of the pyramids in Egypt are located on the west side of the Nile River.  They think the shape of ancient Egypt pyramids is to have been inspired by the spreading.  The Great Pyramid at Giza has vents pointing to the constellation of Orion so the mummy’s spirit could fly straight up to the gods.

5 TOMBS  Tombs were in pyramids in ancient that were like Egyptian grave yards like today  In the earliest times tombs were like houses for the dead to rest in until they go to the afterlife  When a pharaoh died he was buried in a tomb to protect his body forever  Egyptians believed that Spirits of the dead made there way to the afterlife after they died.  The ancient Egyptians drew pictures of themselves traveling to the afterlife

7 NOW TO THE KINGS This is one of the kings from Egypt

8 KINGS  King Tut is chiefly known for his intact tomb, discovered in Egypt ‘s valley of the kings in 1922.  There are 225 names of rulers who were known to be Pharaohs of Egypt  The kings of Egypt spent most of their lives preparing for their death.  King Menes was the first ruler of Egypt

9 MORE FACTS ABOUT KINGS  The king was the most important and powerful person in ancient Egypt.  In the New Kingdom the Egyptian pharaohs were buried in secret tombs in the Valley of the Kings.  In the periods of Egyptian history called the Old Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom, the Egyptian kings were buried in pyramids.
