When to Perform an Exam Monthly
6-7 days after your menstrual period ends If you no longer have a menstrual period, choose a certain day and do your exam at the same time each month.

Breast Self Exam (BSE) The key to BSE is knowing what is “normal” in your breasts: Textures (how the breasts feel) that are present each month. Visual (how the breasts look) characteristics of your breasts that are normal for you. Areas of pain or tenderness that are part of your monthly cycle.
9
Breast Self Exam (BSE) Once you know what is “normal”, you will be able to notice when there is a change. If you identify a change in your breast call your Health Care Provider to perform a complete examination of your breasts.
