Taipei Orphan Welfare Foundation, originated from Taipei Orphan Welfare Association, was funded in 1968. In 2007 TOWA was transformed into TOWF. The Foundation has dedicated to collecting and integrating with various social resources for orphans and valuing orphans’ welfare as well as education and physical and psychological development.

Service object Children under 18 lost one or both of parents, being in the school currently. Referred by all the elementary schools in Taiwan. According to DGBAS statistics of Family Income and Expenditure Survey Widowed parent families: 2001 - 180,000 persons 2010 - 220,000 persons The number of widowed families have seen an increasing trend.

Encouraging orphans to face the difficult positions following unexpected lost bravely. Inspiriting orphans to acquire the abilities of facing and resolving the problems. Cultivating orphans to have the spirit of exerting himself/herself to make progress and to grow with health and happiness. Training orphans to learn self-reliance and guiding them to get a job or to own a business.

Service Status We Have 10 Offices around Taiwan, including over 40 social workers and 2 counseling psychologist and other staff of the foundation. Financial Assistance Scholarship - inspiring needy orphans to exert themselves on learning after losing one or both of their parents.NT$3000 per orphan per semester. More than 2000 orphans are benefit from this project.

After receiving the info of orphans from school, we start the procedure to visit, build up bond with them and deliver the scholarship.

Tutorial Service Cooperating with local community care center to provide orphans with after-school coaching.

We discover the children’s needs during the visits and provide tutorial service.

Counselling Service Providing regular counselling services by counsellors in order to restore orphans’ psychological, living and social functions.

We provide counselling service to help the widowed parent family members to get over the pain of lost.

Character Education Activating growth groups to develop good character. Life Care Regular home visits to provide essential goods for daily life.

Annual Activities Holding spring outing, summer camp, and regular field trips.

Summer camp is a good opportunity to encourage the kids to learn to adapt the group life and good habits.

National Orphanage Olympic Training the orphans of physical endurance, team cooperation, sense of honour and improving self-value and self- identification.

1.We want to build up the platform of athletic competition for orphanages around the country. 2.We hope to tighten the bond between orphanages and enhance the sense of honor not only for the kids but also for the staff. 3.We try to discover potential elite sportsman through the Olympic games. 4.We wish to arouse people to show their concerns about the orphan issues with concrete actions.

Time : 4 October (Saturday) 7:00 – 17:00 Venue: Taipei Gymnasium, Taipei Track & Field Stadium Attendees: 40 teams of Taiwan orphanages & 10 teams from other countries total will be 2500 orphans attend this event Total number of volunteers: 300 - 400

What you can do for orphans (us)?

1. Individual donation, support each orphan families live easier. 2. Volunteers: Accompany orphan through most difficult period, including tutoring, etc. 3. Enterprise supports and collaborations We use the donation with transparent principle.

1.We are now providing services to 5778 kids all around the country. 2. We give NTD 500 per month for each kid. Although it is not much, it can make their life easier.

What benefits the children is our priority. Time doesn’t wait, especially for kids’ development. We wish to help the kids instantly whenever they need. We want to constantly provide our services and help even only with limited resources.
