How to French Braid Maryssa Rigdon
2
Introduction Have you ever wondered how girls French braid their hair? It is such a classic look, and definitely a hairstyle every girl should know how to do. This is a simple but cute alternative to your everyday hair. See these easy-to-follow steps below to learn how to properly French braid your hair.
3
Step One Be sure you have a ponytail holder on your wrist before starting. Make sure your hair has been brushed and has no knots. Brush all of it back away from your forehead, unless you want it to be parted, in which case you would brush it into the sections you want.
4
Step Two Be sure you have a ponytail holder on your wrist before starting. Pull back a large chunk of hair, roughly 5 inches wide, from the top and center of your head, and keeping it all in your hands, separate it into three equal pieces. If you want to keep your part, be sure to pull your hair back in two separate sections, with each section on either side of your part.
5
Step Three Hold two of the pieces in one hand, and one piece in the other. Place the single strand over the center piece, and then the other side piece over the center to start a braid.
6
Step Four Each time after this that you repeat the process of crossing the side strands over the center, grab from the loose hair on the same side, and add it to each piece. The pieces grabbed from the extra hair should be big enough that by the time you reach your neck, all your hair is in your hands.
7
Step Five Repeat steps three and four until there is no more hair left down.
8
Step Six When you reach your neck, and there is no hair left down, begin to braid the rest of your hair normally. If your hair is too long to braid it straight down your back, pull it to the side to finish it.
9
Step Seven When you reach the end of your hair, or you can no longer overlap the pieces, hold the end right below where the braid ends and wrap your ponytail holder around it to hold the braid in place. For added flare, try adding a bow or a ribbon.
10
Conclusion French braids are an extremely cute and comfortable hairstyle to try. They are simple and do not require much skill or effort at all. They are a very time-effective way to mix up your everyday hairstyle. Once you master this style, you can try the upside down braid, or braiding your bangs back into a ponytail.
