MONDAY APRIL 13 TH SUBSTANCE ABUSE AWARENESS Students and staff are encouraged to wear purple to show support Students will be greeted in the lobby, asked to wear a purple yarn bracelet There will be a short video about substance abuse looping in the lobby Chris Herren, former NBA player with a history of substance abuse and recovery will speak to the entire school 10-11am Small group discussions in class --If students feel like they want extra support, they can see clinicians from North Suffolk Mental Health who will be available at WHS Purple Paper Chain activity at lunchtime --Each day, students and staff can honor or memorialize someone or share their insight on what the day means to them by writing on a slip of paper. Slips of paper will all be connected to show school community

TUESDAY APRIL 14 TH BULLYING AWARENESS Students and staff are encouraged to wear blue to show support Students will be greeted in the lobby, asked to wear a blue yarn bracelet There will be a short video about bullying looping in the lobby Lunchtime video --Student made video shown at lunch on bullying Blue Paper Chain Activity at lunchtime At lunchtime, students will be encouraged to participate in a short self corrected quiz about bullying. Participation will enter that student into a drawing for prizes

WEDNESDAY APRIL 15 TH MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS Students and staff are encouraged to wear green to show support Free Yoga will be offered in the gym 7:45-8:15am for students and staff Students will be greeted in the lobby, asked to wear a green yarn bracelet There will be a short video about mental health looping in the lobby Green Paper Chain Activity at lunchtime At lunchtime, students will be encouraged to participate in a short self corrected quiz about mental health. Participation will enter that student into a drawing for prizes Teachers will be provided with handouts on how mental illness affects learning Mini massages will be offered at lunchtime for teachers Community Forum at night 6:30-8:30pm --Parent speaker + Law Enforcement + North Suffolk clinician re: substance abuse, mental health and how to access resources

THURSDAY APRIL 16 TH LGBTQ AWARENESS LGBTQ : Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning/Queer Students and staff are encouraged to wear rainbow colors to show support Students will be greeted in the lobby, asked to wear a rainbow yarn bracelet There will be a short video about sexuality and gender looping in the lobby Rainbow Paper Chain Activity at lunchtime The entire school will be encouraged to participate in the Cross The Line/Free to Be event which will be run by Student Council and GSA (Gay Straight Alliance)

FRIDAY APRIL 17 TH PHYSICAL HEALTH AND COMMUNITY DAY Students and staff are encouraged to wear school colors/Viking attire Free Yoga will be offered in the gym 7:45-8:15am for students and staff Paper Chain from the days prior will be hung up in the lobby At lunchtime, students will be encouraged to sign a pledge related to the five topics covered this week. Anyone who pledges will receive a blue and gold wristband with the words, “Be Kind. Be Aware. Be Well.” Walk around the outside of the school with entire student body at the end of the day GO VIKINGS!!!
