RFID Radio frequency identification,or RFID,is an Auto-ID technology that uses radio waves to identify a physical object. Tags ReaderAntenna
2
Components ◦ An RFID system consists of three components: Tag: is a tiny radio device that is also referred to as a transponder, smart tag, smart label or radio barcode. The tag comprises of a simple silicon microchip attached to a small flat aerial and mounted on a substrate. Antenna: interface between tags and readers. Reader or Interrogator – The reader, sometimes called an interrogator or scanner, sends and receives RF data to and from the tag via antennas.
3
How it works? Typically an RFID reader transmits radio signals to an RFID tag. The tag returns a radio signal which is interpreted by the reader to provide useful information about the object.
4
Tag holds unique data – a serial number and/or other unique attributes of the item When the reader read the tag it means read the data in the tag and number (EPC).The reader send this data to application and the application use this data to arrived goals.
5
Classification system 1. Tags : w e have three kind of tags consist of, passive, active and semi passive. 2. Frequency : RFID tags and readers must be turned into the same frequency to enable communications. Low frequency(125 to 134 KHz). High frequency : (850 MHz to 950 MHz and 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz). Ultra High Frequency:(850 to 950 MHz)
