Rotary Youth Exchange Program Rotary Clubs of Ft. Wayne Information Session 2011 Outbound Exchange Program

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES Further international understanding & goodwill Students will further their education in another culture Students broaden their outlook and learn to cope in another culture They are ambassadors for their communities, country and Rotary They will live, study and observe all facets of another culture

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?? NON ROTARIAN and ROTARIANS’ daughters and sons Students must be 15 1/2 years old and have not turned 19 prior to leaving during the summer when the exchange is scheduled to begin. Age requirements are country dependent. Students must be in the top 50% of their high school class Students need to be outgoing, pleasant and able to accept discipline Students must be able to adjust to new and different living and study conditions. Being MOTIVATED to learn the language of the host country is a MUST! Individual Countries often have their own specific requirements. A complete up-to-date list can be found on the Central States website at csrye.org.

Countries of Choice Applicants turning 18 ½ prior to departure have a limited number of countries to select from. The Central States’ ‘country list” provides details. APPLICATION & SELECTION PROCESS The Preliminary Application indicates interest in the program. This is due before October 1 Applicants will be interviewed by the Ft Wayne Rotary clubs in September The completed FORMAL APPLICATION (multi page) is due to the Rotary District committee by mid-October Rotary District 6540 Youth Exchange Committee will interview applicants on a Sat. October 23, 2010 Central States will announce country assignments in early February 2011
