Wyandots was the early Indian tribe that was located in the northwest surrounding the banks of the Maumee and Sandusky rivers Shawnee was the early Indian tribe that was located in the south on both sides of the Sciotto Miami was the early Indian tribe that occupied the two Miami Rivers Mingo was the early Indian tribe in the southeast near the Muskingum and Ohio river Delaware, Ottawa, and Chippawa were the local Indian tribes that were scattered throughout Ohio

Indians began exploring the Ohio Valley region 1669 Certain Indian tribes made the Ohio valley there home in 1720 British and French settlers began exploring the Ohio Valley where the Indians lived in the 1750s British laid claim to the Ohio Valley in 1750 for settlement purposes

In 1752 French Governor Marcuis Duquesne orders French officials to do anything they can to get English settlers of land for trading purposes In 1753, England sent George Washington to French officials with a letter demanding that they leave Ohio France refused and on May 24, 1754, Washington marched 40 soldiers to the Ohio Valley to surround some of the French. Frenchman grew hostile and fired a shot at the Brits which resulted in a fire fight between the two forces, which the British easily won. On July 3, 1754, The French retaliated by marching to the fort George Washington Constructed, Fort Necessity, in the Ohio Valley and ambushed it

In May of 1756, Britain officially declared war against the French From 1757-1758 The French used the help of Indian allies in Ohio to gain the upper hand in the battles In 1759, the tides had finally turned and the Brits received more help from the Indians, and with there help began winning the majority of the battles In 1760, the French were dealt the final blow of the battle when they were defeated in Montreal by the British and Indian forces from Ohio, which ended the war between the two In 1763, the Paris Peace Treaty is signed by both forces
