Label Switched Path (LSP) Dynamical Provisioning Performance Metrics in Generalized MPLS Networks http://front.sjtu.edu.cn/~sunwq/draft-xie- ccamp-lsp-dppm-02.txt Weiqiang Sun and Guowu Xie, SJTU Guoying Zhang, CATR, MII Jianhua Gao, Huawei Rajiv Papneja, Isocore Bin Gu, IXIA Xueqing Wei, Fiberhome
2
Motivations Measuring LSP provisioning performance in the lab – Dynamic provisioning For interactive broadband multimedia services For Fast provisioning and recovery – Mapping of application requirements and the provisioning performance of the network – Maximizing common understanding of LSP provisioning performance between the service providers and network users/applications Measuring LSP provisioning performance in an operational network – Real-time control plane performance monitoring – Control plane maintenance and optimization
3
More Recent ASON deployment/tests in China China Telecom – 5 nodes, with GMPLS control plane – more nodes deployment expected China Netcom – 17 nodes in NE China China Unicom – 22 nodes, 9 with GMPLS control plane – GMPLS control plane for all 22 nodes expected ASON tests – CT, CNC, China Unicom (courtesy of G. Zhang, CATR)
4
Updates since last discussion Two more metrics – Multiple unidirectional LSP setup delay – Multiple bi-directional LSP setup delay – Motivation: setup multiple (potentially large number) LSPs during a short time interval For batch provisioning For failure recovery
5
Updates since last discussion (Cont.) Two test cases for obtaining samples of metrics – Performance for a “clean“ network state Reflects the inherent performance of a GMPLS control plane – Performance for a “loaded” network Reflects the performance of a medium or highly loaded GMPLS control plane
6
Open Issues UNI model or NNI model? – UNI model will results in simpler implementation – To implement the metrics online, NNI are also desirable LSP release delay – Two way signaling or three way signaling
7
Next steps Two teams work together to progress both items, in CCAMP and BMWG –draft-xie-ccamp-lsp-dppm-02.txt – draft-vapiwala-bmwg-rsvpte-convergence-motivation-00.txt Seek more input from the WGs Poll CCAMP’s interest in progressing the DPPM draft toward a working item Implement the draft in FPGA based hardware and/or Tester platform
