Introduction Certiport provides industry-leading training, assessment, and certification solutions that enable individuals to develop the skills necessary to achieve more, distinguish themselves, and advance in today's academic and business environments. These solutions include the Certiport Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³ ® ), the Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Program, and Microsoft IT Academy (in assigned regions), and the Adobe Certified Associate Program (ACA), delivered through a channel of more than 10,000 Certiport Centers worldwide. In this module you will learn how to deliver an Offline Learning System course using a single drive (for example, a PC hard drive). One-time Setup Before candidates can start Offline courses, Offline files must be installed on each computer. This process will only need to be run one time, and once complete, each computer will be ready to deliver the Offline courses. Setting up the Offline Learning System on the student PC includes these tasks: Installing Offline Learning files on the student PCs Running Offline Learning System setup on a teacher’s PC Page 4© Certiport, Inc. 2008. Copy Contents of Student Files Select the OfflineLMSSetup.exe file, and then choose Copy. Go to the root drive (C:). Create a folder (C:\Offline) Right-click in folder C:\Offline, and then choose Paste. Windows pastes the copied file to folder C:\Offline. Run OfflineLMSsetup.exe In folder C:\Offline, double- click OfflineLMSSetup.exe to install the Offline application. (note: this should be done as an Admin) This creates a shortcut to Offline Learning System on the Windows Desktop and then launches the application. The Desktop shortcut can then be used to launch the Offline application. Click the close button in the upper-right corner of the Offline application to close it. Insert Admin USB Drive Insert the Admin USB drive into the USB drive on the Admin computer (connected to the Internet). In the AutoRun window, click Cancel. This loads the USB drive, to which you will download the group roster. Page 10© Certiport, Inc. 2008. All Rights Reserved. Admin

Open Internet Browser Open an Internet browser – Internet Explorer is recommended. In the Address field, type http://www.certiport.com. Exam Registration in Portal Upload your comma separated list of students by selecting the file to import and clicking on Register. Select Save the Results and save the resultant list of student names and Candidate IDs. This file will be used to create learning and exam records for each student. Save this file to your Admin USB. LMS User Creation Open an Internet browser – Internet Explorer is recommended. In the Address field, type http://certprep.certiport.com. Click Go. Login Page On the login page, enter a User Name and Password. Click Login to continue. NOTE: Click the Forgotten your password? link if you need your password sent to you. Home Page The system displays the your home page. The Student links menu is displayed across the top of the page. Click the Administration link to enter Administration mode. Locate User Group In Administration mode, click the Administration menu link. The system tree structure is displayed on the left. Click the “+” symbols in the tree structure to expand menus to find the group you want. Click the group name in the menu tree. The group name is displayed at the top of the right panel. Click the Choose an action… drop-down menu on the far right. Upload Users In the First Name field, select FirstName from the drop-down. In the Last Name field select LastName. In Display Name select CandidateID from the drop- down menu. For Username, select CandidateID from the drop- down menu. Input a password value and Click Continue. Enroll Users in Exams Click on GS3 2009 – Arabic to display the GS3 Exams. Click Enroll for exams: 170202021, 170203021 and 170204021. Generate Offline Roster Click the Generate button to continue. The system creates the Offline roster. This may take a few minutes, depending on your Internet connection. Saving Offline Roster In the File Download window, click Save. Use the Save in drop-down list to select the Admin USB drive. Click Save. When the download is complete, click Open to open the roster.ZIP file in Windows Explorer. Extract Roster Files NOTE: The name of the roster.ZIP file includes the name of the group: groupname_roster.ZIP The contents of the roster.ZIP file are displayed in Windows Explorer. Click Extract all files. NOTE: If you use a file archiving application like WinZip to extract the roster files, be sure to extract the files to a folder on the Admin USB drive. Extract Roster Files Using the Extraction Wizard, follow the prompts to extract (unzip) the roster files. Save the extracted files folder to the Admin USB drive (selected by default). Set Up Offline Users With student files copied to the offline PC and the group roster downloaded to the Admin USB drive, you are ready to set up individual users so you can run courses and exams on offline computers. This setup process is called initializing the drive. Insert the Admin USB drive into the teacher’s PC. This will install the Offline Learning System Initializer. Locate Roster Folder The first time you run the Initializer, you will be asked to choose the location of the roster folder. Use the “+” symbols in the window to locate the groupname_roster folder on the Admin USB drive. Click to select the roster folder. Click OK. Admin Login When you start the Initializer, you will be asked to login, using your Certiport Admin credentials. (Note: the Initializer must be run as Admin) Input your Admin username and password and click Login. NOTE: If you do not have access to the Internet, you can select Cancel. You will not be able to upload exam results but you can initialize users. If your Admin is authorized for more than one Test Center, select the Test Center which is currently being set up. Initialize User Files The Initializer displays the users in the group roster. Click the Init Login button next to the candidate name you want to set up for offline training. Initialize Complete The Initializer saves the student data file(s) in the Teacher Files folder. Click OK. Click Exit to close the Initializer. Now the Admin USB drive can removed and each student file (located in the Teacher Files folder on the USB) copied to the C:\Offline directory of students PCs. NOTE: The student data file initialized in this process is of the form candidateID_data.lmsdb file. For example, the student data file for Gina Calabrese is named 2798629_data.lmsdb. Retrieve and Upload Exam Results When students have completed their exams, their results need to be copied to the Admin USB drive in preparation for uploading to the Portal. Place the Admin USB drive into a USB port on the offline computer of the student whose results you want to upload.
