Output devices An output device is a piece of hardware that is used to display or output data which has been processed or has been stored on the computer. There are many different kinds of output devices. Speakers Projectors Lights
2
speakers A system's speaker is the component that takes the electronic signal stored on things like CDs, tapes and DVDs and turns it back into actual sound that we can hear. Speakers are used on many computers and televisions they are also used in hospitals on life support machines A disadvantage is that you have to spend a lot of money to get good quality speakers
3
projectors LCD projectors depend on either outside data from a computer (connected by USB) or data from an inserted DVD. LCD projectors are used for watching movies in homes and giving presentations. The digital images sent to the three LCD displays are as clear the first time you show the footage as the hundredth time you show it. A disadvantage is that they can be very expensive starting at £200 and some better models equalling £30,000
4
Computer LEDs LEDs are ultra energy efficient compared to CFLs, however their expensive price tag and dim shades of white have kept them from hitting the mainstream. These are sometimes used on computer fans for appearance and style.
5
Output devices Common output formats are printed paper, sound, video and on-screen documents. They let the computer communicate with the user. Examples of devices that take advantages of these formats are:
6
printers Printers Laser printers are quite expensive to buy and run but produce a high quality output and are quiet and fast. You send a document or picture to the printer and it outputs your information Could be used to print out results and prescriptions and graphs

Buzzers Buzzers: These cheap transducers change a current directly into a simple sound. They use a low current so can be powered directly from a computer. Suitable uses - Often used as alarms or warnings in computer control systems. Advantages - Cheap and widely available. They use a tiny current so can be powered directly from a computer. Disadvantages - Limited volume and they can only produce a limited range of sounds. Could be used when somebody flat lines and dies if you don’t do anything, alerts the staff of the situation

Plotters A plotter can be used to produce high quality, accurate, A3 size or bigger drawings. They are usually used for Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) applications, such as printing out plans for houses or car parts. So basically draws a picture in when it passes through
