Audition Vocab AUDITION: –similar to a job interview – actors are able to demonstrate their talents – an opportunity for actors to meet the person hiring (director) and to leave memorable impressions of themselves

COLD READING: - Auditioning with a script that you have not had the opportunity to read before the audition CAST: - the group of actors who take the roles in a play (noun) - to be chosen to play a specific role in a play (verb)

MONOLOGUE: –an actor performs a work (like a story or speech) alone on stage to demonstrate his/her talents to the director IMPROV: –to speak, or act, w/o a script, given a situation

Other Reminders for Audition Preparation… Know when and where the audition will be held Do not perform something from the show

Audition Etiquette You are auditioning from the moment you walk in the door!

More Etiquette… Arrive early. Come prepared. Bring pen and pencil. Be polite. Follow directions.

Still More Etiquette… No gum, candy, cough drops, etc. Dress appropriately. Pick up after yourself. Don’t disappear. Leave when you’re excused. Check postings.
