Chelyabinsk Region The region is rich in natural resources. The most important of them are iron, titanomagnetite, copper and zinc ores, nickel, bauxite, graphite, and gold. Chelyabinsk Region is also one of the most advanced industrially-developed Russian regions: its 5,000 enterprises employ 535,000 people. A total of 93 % of all firms are in the heavy industry. The region ranks the third in terms of per capita production. Chelyabinsk is also considered the center of metallurgical industry of the country. Machine-building production in the region comprises the enterprises of automobile industry including tractor and agriculture machines production. The region displays the most favorable situation for attracting both domestic and foreign capital. Chelyabinsk Region has all the elements of investment potential: industrial, financial, laboring, consuming, institutional, and innovational.

Ural Nature Chelyabinsk Region is a federal subject of Russia in the Ural Mountains region on the border of Europe and Asia. The region numbers more than 3000 lakes.

CSU in Figures 27000 students; More than 200 international students; 165 students enrolled in inclusive education program; 18 faculties, educational and research institutes; 116 educational programs; 3 branches (Miass, Troitsk and Kostanay (Kazakhstan)); 2000 scientists conduct teaching and research activities; 65 % of CSU lecturers have a scientific degree; 51 % of PhD's and Associate Professors; 14 % of Doctors and Professors.

Innovations and Research CSU Electronic University: Internet resource supported and administered by CSU, aimed at training and retraining IT specialists. Magnetic refrigerator project (unique world technology) supported by State Innovation Center “Skolkovo”. Scientific School led by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Sergei Matveev is rightfully recognized as the leader in the field of mathematic research. Its success is evidenced by series of Russian and international grants, including a prestigious grant from the President of the Russian Federation for leading scientific schools.

Summer Schools CSU holds International Summer Schools with the support of DAAD. International students are welcomed to participate in the program "On boundary of Europe and Asia" and plunge in life, history and culture of the Ural Region. Program contains tours around the city as well as visits to historical and archeological National park Arkaim, cities of Yekaterinburg, Zlatoust, border of Europe and Asia.

International Summer Management School is held at a CSU student camp “Parus”. It’s the first South Ural innovative educational programme based on the new European teaching methods. It is held in the framework of already established and fruitful collaboration of CSU and Arnhem Business School of HAN University (Netherlands).

Winter schools Winter Schools are another step in the development of cooperation between CSU and HAN Arnhem Business School. The work of the Schools is coordinated by Joop Vinke, ABS Professor. All work is centered around the original methods of self- development, personal management and staff organization developed by Professor Vinke.

Chelyabinsk Meteorite CSU scientists took part in reclaiming of 570 kg meteorite fragment which had fallen on February 15 th, 2013 near Chelyabinsk city. Contemplated meteorite fragment was raised from the bottom of Chebarkul Lake. Sergei Zamozdra, Associate Professor of Theoretical Physics Department, announced that 570 kg meteorite fragment has extraterrestrial origin. This fragment of "Chelyabinsk" meteorite can easily be in the top ten largest stone meteorites.

Arkaim Arkaim is a unique archeological site discovered by CSU archeologists in 1987 in the South of the Chelyabinsk Region. Arkaim and 20 alike fortified settlements found by CSU scientists have constituted the so-called "Country of Towns" — the Bronze Age protocivilization of ancient Indo-European tribes in the South Ural steppes. Today, Arkaim is one of the most famous Russian archeological sites. It is surrounded by conservation area, on the territory of which guided tours for tourists, scientific conferences and field internships for students are held. CSU has Educational & Scientific Research Centre aimed to study problems of Man and Nature. Every summer foreign archeologists, postgraduate and graduate students from the USA, Great Britain, Japan, Slovenia, China conduct excavations at Arkaim-like sites on the ground of the Centre.
