An ISP (or Internet Service Provider) is a company that offers users a connection to the internet. WHAT IS AN ISP?

There are many different ways for a user to access the internet. The two primary methods of delivery are: Cable Internet – Internet accessed through the cable network. Rogers is an example of cable internet DSL Internet – DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is internet accessed through the phone network. Bell is an example of DSL internet METHODS OF DELIVERY

Other methods of delivery include: Wireless (cellular) – The internet access through the cell phone network Satellite – The internet accessed through satellite connections. Telephone Line – The internet accessed through using a modem that dials to a particular phone number to access the internet. T1 or T3 – High speed fibre optic connections used by large companies and ISPs to access the internet. METHODS OF DELIVERY

Bandwidth – The speed at which data can be transferred. Measured in MBS (megabits per Second) Upload – Sending information or Information moving from your computer to another location. OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS

Download – Receiving information or Information moving from another location to your computer. Cap – The maximum amount of data you are allowed to transfer. Usually measured in GB per month. OTHER IMPORTANT TERMS
