S CHOOL R OLE PA S CHOOL C ODE Signed in to law on 7.4.2008 by PA Governor Rendell Schools are now empowered by the changes in PA School Code to hold students accountable on- site for actions off-site… Allows for action in cases of online attacks including those created out-of-school & off school property.

S CHOOL R OLE PA S CHOOL C ODE School officials have the authority to impose discipline for harm caused by off-campus online speech when – and only when- that speech has, or a reasonable person would anticipate it will, do the following: Cause an impact at the school Is substantial (not mere annoyance) Interferes with the rights of a student or students’ safety and/or right to education Or is a “true threat”.
