2 An example  The teacher said “Please work quietly.”  My friend asked “Are you busy?”  “Stop!” yelled Mrs Jones.

3 You try…  Rewrite as indirect speech “How are you feeling?” asked the nurse. “I wonder what’s in the box” said Kelly. “I’m so excited!” shouted Liam.

4 How did you go?  The nurse asked how I was feeling.

10 How did you go?  “I don’t think that’s likely” murmured Susan.  “What have you eaten?” asked the doctor.

11 Now for a challenge…  Write your own example of direct speech and indirect speech.  Try to use a variety of “talking” verbs… suggested, murmured, muttered, called, groaned, stated, yelled, shouted, cried, whispered, shrieked, chattered, wondered, barked, growled, screamed
