Short facts Thailand and Brazil are considered to have the worst child sex trafficking records. Some parents sell their children to trafickers, in order to pay off debts – or they wish to improve the life of their children The inter-country adoption system makes the adoption scandals predictable. Adoption between the West and the developing world can sometimes result in trafficking of babies or pregnant women Thousands of children from Asia, Africa, and South America are sold into the global sex trade every year. 30 percent of the total number of trafficking cases for year 2007- 2008 between America and Asia or Africa were children coerced into the sex industry.

According to the USA’s state departments data, around 600,000 to 820,00 men, women and children are being trafficked around the world each year. 70 % of these people are women and girls, and up to 50 % are minors.
