Our new theme is in the Toy box We started our learning by doing a carousel activity. Look at the pictures.

Toys with Rules Caolan, Clodagh, Paul and Finn are playing snakes and ladders. It has rules.

Next we made a timeline. What do we play with when we are a baby, a toddler and now?

Materials Some toys are made of plastic. Thomas the Tank Engine is made of plastic.

Some toys are made of metal. Hot Wheels are made of metal.

Some toys are made of wood. Our doll’s house is made from wood.

Some toys are made of fabric like a teddy.

We had lots of fun making boats out of different junk materials. We made them at the art table.

This week we were looking at how toys move. We sorted how toys move in different ways. Sometimes toys can move in a few different ways.

Then we looked at old toys. Miss McAllister brought in her old toy. It was called Monkey. It was brown and old and scruffy.

Miss Neill brought in her old toys to show the class. She played with her toys when she was a little girl.

Peter Blake was an artist. He was interested in toys. He drew pictures of toys in the toyshop window.
