The Effects of Military Research. by: Samantha Garcia
2
on a daily basis our water supply is being slowly destroyed by nature, animals, and worst of all, the humans that drink, bathe, and swim in it.
3
Kirtland Fuel Spill. Kirtland Air Force Base allowed 24 million gallons of jet fuel and aviation gas, to spill out of pipelines into the Albuquerque, New Mexico’s sole source of drinking water aquifer. The waste that was spilled had many, many highly toxic additives in it.

a broken pipe from the leak.
5
The spill was known as “the traveling tsunami”. July 10, 2012 clean up of this massive spill began. 2 weeks after the clean up began, it was estemated that the clean up would be completly done in august of 2014. In the mean time over 1 million gallons of water have been completley waisted due to nuclear contamination.
6
Until august, all we can do is continue to do what we can in order to keep the water have have right now clean.
7
On The Bright Side! Although the spill in 2012 was rather bad, the Military is’nt always a pain, they can do good for our future water supply as well.
8
The majority of the time the water our brave troops come across is highly contaminated. In 2009 the US Department of Defense teamed up with HTI (hidration technology innovation) to create inexspensive, portable, water filters.
9
HTI filters meet or surpass reductions for bacteria, viruses, and cysts. The filters are extremely reliable they don't clog. Unlike other water filters, no pressure is required for the filtration process which can cause other systems to clog!
10
tactical filters are also fill-and-go systems. alowing people to Spend less time at a water source.
11
New Technology such as these filters gives humanity a touch of hope for a future with a clean water supply. although the filters are not sold to the public just yet, They tell us that there is a way to build something that, sometimes in the near future, will save us from dehidration.
12
we all have our ups and down’s, including the military. It’s going to take patients and group work to make sure we have a long lasting, clean, water supply.
