2 CURRENT SET-UP AT SOUTHEAST THROUGH LAP/DSS Individual/Small Group Tutorial Sessions 1 Open Lab (focusing predominately on upper and lower level math courses) 1 Open Lab providing Industrial Engineering and Technology assistance AskOnline – online tutoring for Physics, Math, Spanish and Anatomy and Physiology Scheduled Study Sessions (similar to SI) for Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology courses

3 BEFORE THEY MEET WITH YOUR TUTOR Share pertinent information with your tutees ◦What tutoring is and what it is not ◦Decide what form of assistance best fits their need ◦Identify strengths and weaknesses of the course to determine who would best fit their need (matched with availability)

4 COMMUNICATION Intentional Communication – both verbally and through e-mail or the 5 th e-mail will be deleted prior to being read Offer opportunities to your tutors that would benefit them Straight-forward and concise sharing – limit the ambiguity Share your tutors successes with all tutors (with permission from the tutor of coarse) Promote Teamwork

5 TRAININGS Send an Agenda Ask your strong tutors to present Offer insightful exercises ◦Shoelace Tying ◦Role Playing ◦Question and Answer ◦Venting Time ◦Circular Sharing

6 TRAININGS Continued Share feedback from tutees Share your up-to-date successes Share assessment results Address your struggles with Tutors to the group (like the student in the classroom, many of them have similar issues)

7 SUPERVISION Questions distributed prior to meeting such as; ◦What have you learned through your experience? ◦Has this experience benefited you? ◦How are you most effective as a tutor? ◦What can you do to improve? ◦How can you use these experiences in your future?

8 SUPERVISION Continued Share helpful opportunities with your tutors Encourage updating their resume Listen, focus and address Discuss their coursework and grades

9 ASSESSMENT Survey Monkey What the results have shown and how to use the results in the future Connect these results to Supervision, Trainings and Communication with your tutors
