All rights reserved. ® Operator Training – Release 4.1.1 Alarms List Alarm Management - Alarm Cycle Alarm Event An event occurs which generates an alarm message Alarm message received by ReliaTel Alarm Displayed Alarm message is matched with a predetermined severity level for that specific message Message appears in the Text column of the Alarm List Alarm is displayed in the Alarm List Operator Intervention – Acknowledging the alarm Operator acknowledges alarm, work begins on resolving issue Operator Resolution – Clearing the alarm Operator clears alarm after issue is resolved 3

All rights reserved. ® Operator Training – Release 4.1.1 Alarms List Acknowledging and Clearing Alarms Alarms are generated by the system based on preset criteria Sources SNMP traps SNMP walk Performance metrics for devices (such as CPU usage, in/out bandwidth, etc.) Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) quality of service (such as MOS or latency) Operator response Acknowledge the new alarm Upon resolution, clear the acknowledged alarm 5

Acknowledging the alarm Use the ACK (acknowledge) button to change the state from New to ACK Displayed in the Alarm List Alarms can be acknowledged through: Client Remotely E-mail SMS Remote acknowledgement (e-mail or SMS) is set up by the administrator Clearing the alarm Use the CLR (clear) button to change the state from ACK to Cleared Upon clearing, alarm is removed from the alarm list and moved to the Cleared list Alarms can be cleared through: Client Remotely E-mail SMS Remote clearing (e-mail or SMS) is set up by the administrator 6
