2  3,200 HP 4330s ProBooks  Issued to 6 th -9 th graders and Dewalt A side students who choose to participate in the program  1 to 5 ratio at each of the 7 elementary campuses  Laptop Sleeve (Always on Case arrives later) for each participant

3  Parent Meetings will be held to dispense information and clarify paperwork or questions pertaining to the program.  There will be signed contracts and a $75 fee involved to participate.  Laptops will likely be deployed through homeroom/ advisory periods on pre- determined dates.

7  Laptops must be carried in school-provided sleeve or Always on Case.  Do Not leave the power supply plugged in when laptop is mobile.  Do Not transport the laptop by holding the display only.  Replacement parts can only by supplied by the district. Do Not use one from home.  Students are not to loan the device to others.  Students are responsible for charging and maintaining battery power at home.  Do not allow food and drink near the device.  Provide a stable foundation for the device to sit on. This does not include a student’s lap.

8  Turn off the notebook, disconnect external power and any external devices  Do not spray directly on device  Gently wipe the display using a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with alcohol-free glass cleaner  Safely clean the cover, keyboard, and touchpad with alcohol-free Dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride 0.3 percent maximum concentration. (example: try Germicidal disposable wipes)  Static-free cloth wipes will also work  Dry microfiber cleaning cloth or a chamois (static-free cloth without oil)

9  If the computer does not turn on, check the power. Is it charged? Power strip turned on?  If the computer appears unresponsive, shut down or press the on/off button for 15 seconds to turn it off. Unplug the power cord, wait 30 sec., then re-plug and power back up.  If using headphones, check the cable connections and the volume control on the headset or cord.  Check the taskbar for the speaker icon. Right click the icon and select Open Volume Control. Check for any muted options and uncheck if necessary.  Is the wireless light on? Does the taskbar show an X over the network connection bars?

10  Current structure puts the “help desk” in the campus library.  Students will return non-working or broken laptops to the library in order to be checked in through the library management system.  A technology work order will be placed on behalf of the student.  A loaner will be checked out if one is available.  When the ticketed laptop is in working condition, the student will return to the library to make the exchange.  Specific procedures will be determined by the campus administration.
