3 Skin Fold Caliper  Measures body fat percentage  Pinches your fat with your fingers  Measuring thickness with body fat caliper  Most effective, accurate, and practical  More effective with lower body fat  $10

4 Bioelectric Impedance Analysis  Measures the flow of an electric current through the body  Estimates fat free body mass & fat percentage  BIA is based on your water balance  State of hydration can impact the accuracy  More effective with higher body fat  $50 or less

5 Anthropometric  Uses body circumference measurements to estimate body fat percentages  US Navy takes… -waist, neck, height for men -hips, neck, and height for women  Considered least effective because doesn’t directly measure body fat

6 Hydrostatic Weighing  Considered “Gold Standard,” 1.5% error  Requires being submerged in a specialized tank of water  Test takes 20-30 minutes  $100-150  Very accurate but impractical
