WHY LEARN ANOTHER LANGUAGE?? Most colleges (and majors, later) have foreign language requirements. Study of another language helps us to understand English better; it actually improves SAT scores! It expands problem-solving skills as well as memory and self-discipline. Knowing another language helps us to better understand and appreciate our neighbors; this is particularly important as we become a global society. Many careers require knowledge of another language; many workers with good foreign language skills earn more than their monolingual co- workers. Important to keep in mind with the current competitive job market!

* Japan is one of the largest business partners of the US, so possible careers could be waiting for you! *English and Japanese are extremely different, therefore you can learn something totally new on both a linguistic and cultural level! *There is a Japanese AP class offered, so you can probably earn a college credit while you are in high school. *Manga, videogames, J-pop, dramas, etc... Lately, there are Japanese cultural influences all over the world. Want to read manga in its original language? The first step is taking Japanese class! It will bring enrichment to your life. *Taking Japanese makes your college application stand out to. *There are a number of high school exchange scholarship programs available. You may have a chance to go to Japan to try using your skills. Various subjects, which may help your major in college or your future job, are available in the land of the rising sun; for instance, marketing, translations, eco-friendly architecture, and more.
