PDUs Lots of options All activities must be related to PM topics that are substantially consistent with the knowledge areas and processes outlined in the latest edition of the PMBOK ® Guide and involve appropriate expert resources.

PDU Types/Requirements 60 PDUs in 3-year cycle (PMP/PgMP/PfMP) 30 PDUs in 3-year cycle (PMI-SP/PMI-RMP/PMI-ACP) Education PDU Categories (No maximum number of PDUs) Giving Back to the Profession PDU Categories Maximum: 45 PDUs in 3-year cycle (PMP/PgMP/PfMP) 20 PDUs in 3-year cycle (PMI-SP/PMI-RMP/PMI-ACP)

PDU Categories A - Courses from PMI registered education providers, Chapters, and Communities B - Continuing education from colleges, universities, or training organizations C - Self-directed learning D - Create new PM knowledge E - Volunteer activities F - Working in Project Management

Cat A - Courses Courses offered by PMI’s Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s). Events (seminars, conferences, etc.) offered by PMI, PMI chapters and communities of practice. You’re earning a Cat A PDU right now! Take a PMI ® Publication Quiz (online)

Cat B - Continuing Education Academic course being offered by a university or college Relevant educational courses offered by training organizations NOT registered with PMI. This may include training (or a Webinar) offered by your employer, another professional or membership association, or a non R.E.P. training organization.

Cat C - Self-directed Learning Individualized learning events involving personally conducted research or study. Learning may include informal activities such as: Reading articles, books, or instructional manuals; Watching videos, using interactive CD-ROMs, podcasts or other source material; Formal discussions with colleagues, coworkers, clients or consultants; Being coached or mentored by a colleague, coworker or consultant Max 30 PDUs per cycle (PMP/PgMP)

Cat D - Create new Knowledge Authoring (co-authoring) a project management textbook, a peer-reviewed article, a non-peer-reviewed article, an article for PMI’s Knowledge Shelf Authoring an article for relevant electronic newsletters Authoring of article on an official organization, professional, or company blog Presenting in a webinar or podcast Creating a course or developing course content for project management related courses Serving as a speaker, moderator of a relevant discussion Serving as a subject matter expert for a panel discussion 45 PDU max per cycle for D/E/F (PMP/PgMP)

Cat E - Volunteer Activities Providing volunteer, non-compensated project management, program management, project risk, project scheduling or agile project management services to non-employer or non-client customer groups. 45 PDU max per cycle for D/E/F (PMP/PgMP)

Cat F - Working in PM Working as a project manager in your field of expertise (project management, program management, project risk management, project scheduling management or agile project management). 15 PDU max per cycle, and 5 PDUs per year 45 PDU max per cycle for D/E/F (PMP/PgMP)

PDU Math 1 hour = 1 PDU Unless you have multiple certifications (PfMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, PMI-SP) 1 hour = 2 PDUs (maybe)

Reporting PDUs Online via CCRS On PMI.org, myPMI Offline via mail/email Form is online No documentation required to report (on or offline), but PMI recommends keeping docs for random audits
