This particular style has a romantic feel, so it may be a modern option for special events. The Gibson Girl look works for women with all hair types, but it usually looks best with curly or wavy hair.

In the early 1900's, the fashionable male wore his hair smooth and slicked back. It was either parted in the middle or on the side and was shiny from perfumed oils, Brylcreem, etc.. Hair was usually longer on top and a little shorter on the sides.

Peanuts and peanut butter are among America's top choices in foods, but many people are unaware that over 300 peanut-based products were invented in the early 1900s by renowned inventor and scientist George Washington Carver. His discoveries ranged from food products to cosmetics, toiletries, construction materials and industrial and household applications.

Queen Victoria dies in 1901, and her son, Edward VII. As President McKinley begins second term, he is shot fatally by anarchist Leon Czolgosz. Theodore Roosevelt sworn in as successor.

Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur, fly first powered, controlled, heavier-than-air plane at Kitty Hawk, N.C. Henry Ford organizes Ford Motor Company in 1903.

The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB), played between the American League and National League champions since 1903. The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best-of-seven playoff and awarded the Commissioner's Trophy

Susan Brownell Anthony was a prominent American civil rights leader who played a pivotal role in the 19th century women's rights movement to introduce women's suffrage into the United States. She was co-founder of the first Women's Temperance Movement with Elizabeth Cady Stanton as President. She also co-founded the women's rights journal, The Revolution. She traveled the United States and Europe, and averaged 75 to 100 speeches per year. She was one of the important advocates in leading the way for women's rights to be acknowledged and instituted in the American government.

Formed by the combination of Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory on November 16, 1907, Oklahoma was the 46th state to enter the union

The death of Queen Victoria in January 1901 and the succession of her son Edward marked the end of the Victorian era. While Victoria had shunned society, Edward was the leader of a fashionable elite that set a style influenced by the art and fashions of Continental Europe— perhaps because of the King's fondness for travel. The era was marked by significant shifts in politics as sections of society that had been largely excluded from wielding power in the past, such as common laborers and women, became increasingly politicized.

Christian Dior was a very famous designer in the 1940s-1950s but not so much in the early 1900s.

 I believe in the early 1900s the fashion was really big then. But people were kind of strict on what they wore. The skirts had to touch the floor, couldn’t have to much showing. With that being said I believe fashion once again was not big but later on in the “roaring twenties” was when fashion really hit the world.

 I think world events affect fashion by a lot. Like during the early 1900s people didn’t care to impress people with what they wore. During big world events people didn’t worry about what they wore, they were to busy with other major events in the world. I think world events affect people a lot.
