Why This Matters: 5 If early childhood teachers: Set expectations based on common standards for what children should know and be able to do Create a positive learning environment through warm interactions with children Organize instruction to support children’s individualized learning with a specific emphasis on language development Use ongoing evaluation to better customize instruction and engage families Then children will enter kindergarten with the critical skills necessary for success
