What is a desert? A place where there is a lot of sand
In the desert it is very hot during the day but in the night it is cold

Sahara Desert – in Africa. It is the largest desert on earth. Great Basin Desert - in North America Patagonian Desert - in Argentina Arabian Desert – in Saudi Arabia Gobi Desert – in Asia Great Victoria – in Australia In Europe there are no deserts

Desert Animals Camels They can live for one whole week without drinking water. Camels store a lot of food in their humps. In the desert camels are used to take people from one place to another.

Desert Animals Jerboas A jerboa looks like a tiny mouse.
It has a long tail with a tuft at the end. It has long back legs and small front legs. With it’s long legs it can jump far away like a kangaroo.

Desert Animals Coyote An animal that is similar to a wolf.

Desert Animals Road Runner This bird can run at a very high speed.
When it is in danger, it runs or bends down to hide.

This fox has huge ears and very large eyes. It’s ears help it to lose heat.

Desert Animals Gazelle It is a type of deer with long ringed horns.

Cactus Cactus is the most common plant in the desert.
This plant stores water in itself.

Oasis An oasis is similar to a pond.
It provides the camels and other animals that live in the desert water to drink.
